Brilliant sun dog makes appearance over Seattle

It'd make sense that after such a long absence, once the sun returned to Seattle it'd put on a bit of a show.
This sun halo was captured from the Seattle Center area Friday morning (5th and Broad to be exact. Guess I was lucky I missed that left turn light and had to wait a few minutes).
The rainbow effect is caused by the ice crystals in the high clouds refracting the sun's light. There is more information at the University of Illinois-Champaign website on how these beautiful light shows are formed.
Is this news or an advertisement for Mcdonald's? McRib is here. Spare me. Sorry... Grumpy this morning.
Pretty!
