Tucson now has a snowier 2013 than Seattle

Not only has Mother Nature essentially blanked Seattle in the snow department this winter, she's rubbing it in by bringing real winter to places that aren't supposed to have it.
Check out this photo above from Dove Mountain, which is just outside Tucson, Arizona.
Yes, that Tucson. Where 110 in the summer is shrugged off and people literally freeze in place when it drops below 60.
Snow started falling there during a PGA golf match -- something I'm sure the organizers thought would never happen. It'd be like planning for 80 degrees during a potential Seattle Super Bowl.
Here is another photo taken just before 1 p.m. MST from the University of Arizona campus:

The Tucson airport reported a drop from 50 degrees to 34 degrees in an hour with a switch from rain to snow.
A former long-time resident (my wife) tells me it does snow in Tucson from time to time. But number of years Tucson > Seattle in the snow department? Likely close to zero, if not zero.
The official tally at Tucson Airport was just a trace -- technically tying Seattle for 2013 as Seattle had a 14-minute snow shower that registered a trace on Jan. 10. But Tucson's snow lasted nearly an hour and a half and unlike Seattle's, actually accumulated in areas around the city, with an official spotter report giving a full 1.0" of accumulation in town.
Global Warming ....the sky is falling the sky is falling...   :-P
So What! Seattle has RAIN every f ing day!
We live in Brier but are snowbirds for the first time this year, in Tucson. It's been unseasonably cold this year, not just on Wednesday when it snowed. Good thing we brought our fleece!Â
I grew up in Arizona - and sometimes the winters in the east valley of Mesa, I would get ice on my windshilds so thick, I had to use an ice scraper along with water - in fact, I had my first ice scraper in Arizona!  When I moved up this way via Idaho, one of my boyfriends saw my snow/ice scraper and said - good thing you had that from Idaho and when I told him it was from Arizona days, he didn't believe it! LOL
I grew up in the PV area, and then we moved to north Scottsdale. When did you live there? I grew up there in the 80s and 90s, but also spent some time in Sandpoint in 1988. I miss AZ the way it was before I left in 1996; now its so developed with strip malls and tract homes, I barely recognize it. Back then you could drive out past Carefree Highway on I-17 and it was just desert all the way to Cortez Junction. Now its all developed to New River
@northwestsurfer - I grew up in the East Valley mostly in the 70's, 80's and early 90s. I know what you're saying though and I remember that Carefree Highway - wow, gorgeous desert out that way. There's some things I do miss from down there - sunny days, etc. I don't miss that awful heat though in the valley. I haven't been back there since 2001 and that time we drove up to Prescott for a conference.
Welcome to winter in arizonaÂ
they can keep it.. if I want snow I will go to the mountains..
Tiffany.. as a southern girl I completely understand what you are saying..
Thanks @ScottSKOMO, might even shoot some golf here pretty soon!
But climate change isn't real, guys.
they can have it!
Reagan and Bush's fault. Al Gore warned about this.
In 1951 we got nearly 5 feet of snow in Seattle area. March no less. It ain't over til the fat lady sings as they say. You just might still see some flakes.
In the 1960s Flagstaff got 8 feet of snow from one storm. My mom was at NAU in school and she said they were jumping out of their bedroom windows from the 2nd and 3rd floors of their dorm because the snow was so deep
Who cares what's happening down there? Please just give us some rain!
@DaveP One sick puppy!
Jealous....I LOVE snow! (but not mountains--don't tell me to go up in the mountains...no way!!)
this isn't of God . hope they stop messing around before it's too late .
@Gina Reed - so God can't put snow in Tucson?
let 'em have it
they can keep it, we had enough!
Have it!
history has been made just hope we don t get their heat with our humidity ouch that would be too dam hot
uhhhh.. i did not choose to move here.. husband is military! So keep your comments to yourself ;)
How typical...take a subject, any subject, even the weather, and turn it into a rant about Obama. Wow. smh...way to be relevant. *not!
Jealous
No, we need it in our mountains. But in the lowlands, forget it!!!
Uhhh...did u not realize this is the cold-and-damp capital of the US before u moved here? Better get used to it or move back home. This is what u get at least 7 to 9 months out of the year.
@Susan Swayzee Wish I could move ! Wish Boeing would out of this awful place!
Let em have it.
GOOD! They can have it ALL! But I'd appreciate some of the sunshine they're supposed to have coming HERE instead! Seems a fair exchange to me!
Let them have it. We have snow in the mountains where it belongs
I am REALLY surprised to hear this one.
2013 isn't over yet.
Good. No snow in Washington!!!! I like.
Let 'em have it! Snow is a 4-letter word! (this coming from a San Diego transplant)
Just sorry the golf tourney was suspended due to snow! Am happy to not have it here
I live in Tucson (I am from Seattle) and this snow has been fun! I remember good Seattle snowstorms and today reminded me a little of that. I've had 1½" at my house with more forecasted for tonight. Tucson drivers cant drive in the rain, so tomorrows commute will be scary with snow and ice!
Pictures don't come up when I clicked on the link. :(
" Let 'em have it !
So so jelouse. I want ton's of snow. We have had a pretty warm winter and need some of that to kill off the bugs =0
Armageddon is coming lol
They can have it
Jealous !!!
I love snow... in the mountains...or even in my yard...not the streets.
But its a dry cold, spring ain't until March 21st...

They can keep it hello from washington !!
Crazy weather everywhere. It's all reversed!
