What Are The Different Full Moon Names?
SEATTLE - You might have heard of the "Harvest Moon" -- the name for the full moon in October that gets its name because during that time of the year, the moon rises about the exact time of sunset for three days instead of one, allowing farmers extra light to harvest their crops before winter sets in.

However, every full moon of each month has its own unique name, which dates back to the Native Americans who used to name the moons to keep track of the seasons.

For example, did you know that today marks the appearance of the "Snow Moon"? So named because February usually had the heaviest snows. Next month, we get to see the "Worm Moon" as March is when earthworms appeared from the thawing ground.

The Farmer's Almanac keeps tabs and has the history of each month's full moon name. You can see their list at www.farmersalmanac.com
