Why Does It Always Seem To Drizzle In The Morning?

By Steve Pool

SEATTLE - Paul wrote in wondering why it always seemed to be raining or drizzling when he'd go for his morning jog in Everett, only to see the sun break out 45 minute later.

It's likely Paul going jogging a lot on days when we have a marine push. That's when we have higher pressure offshore and lower pressure inland.

As the air rushes inland overnight, it carries with it the cool, cloudy weather from the coast into the Puget Sound area. Sometimes, the clouds are thick enough to produce some drizzle or light rain until the midday sun starts burning off the cloud layer. So in these weather patterns, if you hate to jog in the drizzle, maybe go for a late evening jog instead.
