I truly believe Christine Umayam should be recognized for everything she's done to help children in developing nations. She quit her lucrative job several years ago after she went on a trip to the Philippines. She couldn't forget the children she saw rummaging in garbage, begging on the streets and living in horrid conditions. Since then, she started a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering children through education. Her mission is to help a child realize their full potential, hoping that education will lead them, their family and eventually their community out of poverty. She expanded the non-profit to help during natural disasters. Because of her leadership, she has already helped 1000+ families struck by disaster, provided for four rural schools in the Philippines and sponsored children through school. She is currently helping build a learning center and sending off school/education supplies overseas to four countries. Christine lives in Lynnwood. You should recognize her work because she is too humble to say what she's done to help the less fortunate. Thank you.
