Toowoomba - The Garden City estimated population 128,600. According to the experts it is the second largest inland city of Australia. It's history dates back to 1816. Toowoomba is apprx 2,300 ft above sea level.
Last night while we were asleep in the US, Toowoomba was hit by what is being called an inland Tsunami. It was unexpected so the many residents and families, whether they were in their homes or on foot outside, were not prepared for the over powering wall of water that washed homes of their foundations and cars through the streets. Lives were lost. Help was also delayed until first light. The current number of lives lost grow and there are many missing.
Australia has been suffering from some the worst flooding in its history. Not only are many of their residents being displaced, the snakes, frogs, and many other animals are being drawn out and into residental homes.
