Bethel School District Kids at Risk

Bethel School District Kids at Risk

Have you heard about the Microwave towers being placed on some of Bethel Schools? Apparently our school board has approved Clearwire to put them on Bethel JR and Liberty JR. They will be making $1300 a month! Who wants their kids exposed to this and the School district gets to benefit.

Would someone from KOMOnews be able to contact the Bethel SD to see if this in fact a true story. Here is a link to an editorial that was in the Tacoma News Tribune this week. http://blog.thenewstribune.com/letters/2011/01/18/bethel-school-district-kids-at-risk/

I wouldn't be surprised if they put those towers onto the school grounds. They put them everywhere. They just put a cell phone tower behind a church here in Tacoma.

Risk of what? Theres no signifigant evidence to say that microwave towers are exposing anyone to anything harmful. If it means they get extra revenue to use to teach the kids, more power to them.

Cellphones operate via microwaves. They did way back in the day too when people worried about brain cancer from the microwaves. The towers are everywhere, having them a bit closer to a school won't make a great difference.

Oh no....another tower among the 100 other towers in the area. Seriously people, stop living in a closed box and look around you.

Excuse this person for being concerned for their community. Everyone lighten up and if you don't have some constructive input, then take your sarcasm somewhere else. Some people are gathering on Friday so contact your concerned neighbors for info

According to the American Cancer Society, The energy level of RF waves produced by cell towers is too low to affect human DNA or cell structure. The organization's conclusion is that cell towers pose little risk to human health.

Well, I have a cell phone and when the tower signal is majorly strong it hurts my head from the ear I am using to hear with; when I change ears, the pain subsides but not completely, then the other ear begins to hurt..no effects, huh? Get real.

What about me? says ... on Thursday, Feb 3 at 3:09 PM

How do I sign up to have them put a tower on my land. I'd love to be making that kind of money each month.

I bet your child is walking around with a cell phone in their pocket, is there any difference?

Molly says ... on Monday, Feb 21 at 11:50 PM

Do you people who criticize parents concerns have children? There is such a huge difference between the "hundred other towers" in the area and having one 30 feet from your child 6 1/2 hours a day five days a week 9 months a year for six -12 years.

And this is NOT whether anyone wants their kid to have a cell phone. Its about childrens best interest and whether school districts have that in mind. These comments are ridiculous and time wasting and insulting to the people who have real opinions.

This practice has been bannedd in other states becuase there is not long term study of microwave radiation and the effects on children. Glad my kid isn't in Bethel School District, but it makes you think.
