Feb 4, 2011 - A house fire began around 11:30am in the residential neighborhood of Fairwood Crest. One neighbor I spoke to said that "the homeowner complained of smelling smoke before sending her kids off to school this morning but since she could not find the source of the smell, it was ignored." When I arrived at the scene which is a few houses away, all you could see was smoke; no flames. Not much was going on around the front of the house, just a lot of folks waiting to see if it was safe to go inside. I managed to use a neighbors yard to take photos of the back of the house. Here you can see smoke billowing out of one of the bedroom windows. What you don't see is an aviary on the back porch with a macaw and a few other birds freaking out. After the birds were saved, I headed home but the paramedics, fire department and the police were still there trying to determine the source of the fire.
