Thousands of undead attended the 3rd Annual Red, White & Dead Zombie Block Party/Walk 2011 at Fremont Outdoor Movies, 3501 Phinney Avenue North on Saturday, July 2. Those who didn't come already made up were offered a complimentary (though not elaborate) make-up job and the chance to have their pictures taken to document their attendance for the Guinness Book of World Records. Standing in line for half an hour plus was well worth the wait, with tons of vendors (including some excellent eats at mobile food carts), two beer gardens, live music, and photo opportunities galore (even while waiting in line). Just before 5:00 p.m., much of the crowd engaged in the Thriller dance after a quick and dirty instruction on how to do it. There were still Zombies in line, waiting to get in when we left around 5:15 (we were dead tired), and more were dragging themselves down the alley approach. For the $5 at-the-gate admission fee, we had a hell of a good time.
