60s VW Van Up in Smoke

Was driving home today following this VW van from the 60s and noticed some smoke. It was obvious that there was a fire near the engine in the back. There was flaming liquid (probably gas)leaking onto the roadway. Someone else had made the driver aware and he pulled over. The van was quickly engulded in flames. A hand held fire extinguisher was used but it was too little too late.

I know from personal experience that you have to get the fuel lines replaced fairly often. The rubber lines go bad, and flames soon follow. I lost my '72 to fire 18 years ago, and almost lost the '78 a month ago when a line started gushing fuel.

that van was from the late 70's, not the 60's!

I was there, That is my silver Taurus behind the van on the side. Those flames were hot and people were just driving way too close to the fire. Come on people, Safety first. Kudos to Whoever was in the Legacy Roofing Van, talk about selfless courage!
