The Seattle police blocked 3rd Ave this morning from Pike St. to Olive Way. I arrived to the scene about 9:00am to witness the crime scene examiners packing up. The police had taped off and blocked traffic on 3rd street from Pike to Olive Way and from 3rd to 4th street. They also taped the McDonalds on the corner of 3rd and Pine. No information was shared with the public. The two blocks from Pike to Olive on 3rd Ave continues to experience a high level of criminal activity. On any given day of the week 30 plus people can be seen just standing around on the eastside of 3rd Ave near the bus stop. Some are waiting for the bus, but the groups that hang around on either side of the actual bus stop are just loitering. This is one of the downtown Seattle areas that needs video surveillance. I sure hope the police can reclaim this area.
