Eddie may still keeping watch of Seattle afterall

Eddie the 520 Eagle May Still be Here

An eagle tragically lost his life in an accident on the 520 bridge 3 months ago. Those who regularly crossed the bridge knew of the famous eagle, nicknamed Eddie, who would preside over the bridge’s travelers like a king looking over his kingdom. Because Eddie spent so many days gracing the bridges drivers with his majestic beauty, it only seemed logical to assume that it was him who lost his life this past August on the very bridge he spent so much of his time.

Yet, as I was crossing the bridge two weeks ago, I saw a familiar sight. Two bald eagles sat perched above the 520 bridge. Was it possible that it was not Eddie who was hit by the car that day? No matter what eagle was stuck, it was a tragedy all the same, but for me and many other travelers, Eddie holds a special place in our hearts. I truly believe that the birds I saw were Eddie and his companion, and I look forward to continuing to have Eddie presiding over me as I make my travels each day across our floating bridge.

I too saw both of the eagles sitting up on the light post above 520 recently (within the last week)! I am glad to know that I'm not the only one who didn't give up on Eddy! I hope to see him again soon; he is always such a great part of my commute!

I saw them this afternoon - two bald eagles on the same light post on 520. It lifted my heart, as I was just thinking about the poor eagle from the tragedy.

I know eagles frequently use nests from previous seasons. Maybe its Eddie's remarried widow or one of his chicks?
