Unemployed people, students, and workers call on Congress to take action to create good jobs.

On the March to Reichert's Office

RIGHT NOW, more than 50 Working Washington activists — including unemployed people, students, workers, and others — are on the march to Congressman Reichert's Office to call on Congressman Reichert and all DC politicians to represent the 99%, not just the 1%. At 9:00 am Pacific time, they have just arrived at the building housing Reichert's office.

This march is part of a national campaign to "Take Back the Capitol," which has brought more than 3000 people from across the country to DC to establish a People's Camp on the National Mall in DC and call on Congress to take action to create jobs, fund education, extend unemployment insurance benefits, and get the economy moving again.

Some may say the recession is over, but the situation for the 99 percent remains dire:
* More than 13 million workers in the United States are officially unemployed; millions more are underemployed
* Median incomes for most workers have fallen 6.7 percent in the last two years
* Education funding has been cut so badly that total student loan debt outstanding is now greater than total credit card debt.
* Income inequality is at its worst since the 1920s
