What I thought was my backyard, or the Ocean (Long Beach, WA), had an usual resident staying a bit longer than most, a whale beached approximately around 1500. Both Police and department of fish and wildlife were on the scene then left shortly after. From the pictures I was able to capture, he does not appear to be moving when the waves crashed into him or when birds landed upon him. In one photograph it appears there is some blood indicating a possible injury being the cause for why he beached. I am not a marine wildlife professional; therefore, it's purely just my personal speculation. So sad!
Whale in my BACKYARD?!
