Three REASONS to convert this attic space into a family-room/playroom.

1.I am a widowed mom raising 3 children in a 90+ year old home with only 900 sq feet. There is no financial resources to update this home. The children have 2 tiny bedrooms, I sleep in the living room. We simply need more room to grow.
2. Our home is in need of some TLC, extending the attic space up to create a playroom would require new roofing (leaky roof), updating ancient wiring (potential fire hazard) and insulating the attic would help keep our drafty old home warmer in the winter (there is very little to no insulation in this space now…Burrrr!).
3. There is a sexual offender that lives on our street, my children and the neighbor children must have direct adult supervision at all times. There are times they are required to be in the house because of safety concerns. The children need to be able to play freely and have the space to be entertained, creative and interact with their friends.

I found out about this family just the other day. I have worked for Adopt A Family for about 14 years. This is one of the most deserving family situations I have ever run across. I pray that they will be helped with this program.

Lets give this lady / grandmother some help. Raising 3 children is not easy especially in this tradgic time in all of their lives. Lets help her provide and safe / loving enviroment for these children. Thank God they have a grandmother like her.

This family has seen a lot of heartache over the last couple of years. This would be a great way to show them some love.

I knew Barbara's deceased husband and what a nice guy he was. Barbara and her grandchildren definately deserve this!

Twenty years and thousands of miles do not seperate me from my home state. I proudly voice my vote for this faimily to win. In hopeful anticipation that KOMO can ease the burden from this global neighbour in need.

Yikes, these kids have to deal with a real Boogie Man living in thier neighborhood. Best wishes with the contest.

For fun we have been watching the site to see all the families trying to get a remodled room. Looks like this single mom and kids have won the hearts of a lot of people. Hope it works out for all of them.

Wow, what has this world come too. Raising children is hard enough now days but not having a place to let them run and play and to just be kids is even harder. These children need a safe place to play, I choose them to win. My thoughts and prayers.

This family deserves this makeover.

I know the fear of having a preditor in your life. I hope these kids recieve the new playroom and have a childhood full of inocence. My heart goes out to them. Let them play and grow up in a safe home.

I know this family. The woman has a heart of gold. She is raising her 3 grandchildren after the recent death of her husband and daughter. The house is old. She needs and deserves help desperately.

tmw says ... on Monday, Feb 18 at 2:44 AM

For safety sake, please select this family.

I am 12 years old and we have a guy who is a sex offender by our house and the kids are very scared of walking down that street. I hope this family wins so the kids can be safe and not afraid and happy.

Miss Renk says ... on Sunday, Feb 17 at 4:08 PM

i hope you win! my heart goes out to you raising those kids by yourself! it must be really hard! i hope you have support from your friends and family. those kids safety should come before anything else and i hope that they remain safe! god bless yo

Henry J says ... on Sunday, Feb 17 at 1:50 PM

I know this person and not only is she raising her grandchildren alone(their mother passed last year)but when her husband passed, she lost their home business and livelyhood. She has certainly had enough loss in the past few years. She has my vote!

Brenda Johnson says ... on Sunday, Feb 17 at 1:20 PM

I think giving these children a safe haven is a must. Being a single parent is hard enough without the added pressure of knowing a pedifile is right around the corner. How could anyone say no to the safety of a child? This family has my vote.

Karen K. says ... on Saturday, Feb 16 at 7:40 PM

Being a kid these days is a huge challenge, help this family stay safe while growing up. Best of luck, you have my vote.

LM says ... on Saturday, Feb 16 at 4:29 PM

dear judges, This case sure seems to have all the elements of a family in need of a remodled space. A widowed mom, small children, old home needing repaires, and a huge safty issue of a preditor in thier neighborhood. please choose them!

mj says ... on Saturday, Feb 16 at 10:25 AM

You have my vote. The kids need a safe and healthy place to play.

Kay Doyle says ... on Friday, Feb 15 at 10:05 PM

Larry says ... on Friday, Feb 15 at 9:56 AM

You have my vote, keeping your kids safe wins hands down! My prayers are with you and your family.

Bev Fitzgerald says ... on Friday, Feb 15 at 7:29 AM

I hope this widowed mother of three wins the contest. The kids must have a safe home to live in and a safe place to play.

arthur says ... on Thursday, Feb 14 at 3:27 PM

If it was up to me, you would be the winner! Raising children today is much harder than when I was doing it. Children can no longer play freely outside without the fear of stranger danger. God bless you and good luck!
