Corpse Flower
Today is my 24th wedding anniversary and my corpse plant, "Titan Arum", bloomed today! I've had this plant for about 5 years and it has only gotten leaves until today. I've seen a corpse plant only at the Washington Park Arboretum in it's full grown size. This one seems like a baby in comparrison. And the smell, WOW! The flies and our dachsund love it!
My husband couldn't have gotten me anything to compare to this unusual bloom today!

I have several growing in my moms old garden and they are really foul it is exactly like a dead animal smell and very strong.

There are several plants in related families called voodoo lilies. They all look similar and do the "stinky" thing to get pollinated.

We have one of these plants and it bloomed this year, but we call it a Voodoo Lily.

Congratulations. I just finally got my own amorphophallus konjac this year from a friend. If I'm lucky, I, too, should have blooms in the next couple of years.
