I brought the feeder in to the house last night - it was all thawed out for breakfast this morning!! Everyone was happy, including me! Looks like I might have to get a small seed feeder - other birds were looking for food, too!

we use spotlights that we mount underneath the feeders. they keep the juice from freezing, even overnight. works great! you can get them at home depot, they even come with a clamp that allows you to attach it to the feeder post.

If you're using the standard mix double it. Won't hurt them and maybe it won't freeze as fast.

They have a tough time as it is getting the calories they need to survive. But in this kind of weather, looking bleak for that little bird. I would suggest increasing the sugar content and giving it a thawed feeder at least a few times a day.
