Trees utility poles and hot wires down

Massive wind storm does much damage

Monday morning, near Cle Elum about 6:15am the wind seemed the worst I had been through ever at our home. I heard a tree go down and then the power went out. Then I heard a few more trees go down out in the dark. Finally there was a big cracking sound of a tree starting to go. Quick prayer "Please don't hit the house!" Then BANG-it did! Many trees had also gone down on Westside Road causing an unbelievable jumble of trees, hot wires, and utility poles. I stayed back and used my long lens to get some closeups. Power just came back on last night and this huge old pine tree is being lifted off our house as I write this. The tree was about 3 feet across at the base. It did damage but an amazingly small amount for the size of the tree. I will miss that old tree it has been our neighbor for many years.
I don't know if they measured the wind speed but I believe it was more than just a wind storm!
