I observed from across the street how someone parked his truck in a gas station. One person took an empty gas tank and walked towards customers filling up their car and asked for some free gas. Some customers were kind enough to provide some gas. The person thanked and walked around the gas station and hid. He waited for the customer to leave the gas station. He then proceeded to his truck and filled up a container that was in the back of his truck. The routine went on and on, until someone alerted the gas station attendant of the scam. The attendant confronted the solicitors and then they left the gasoline station.

I have to say I don't have a problem with this. Done in moderation. I give money to homeless if I have it. It's desparate times. I truly believe kind acts have a great ripple effect. We are the richest nation, but a bit greedy too. Help eachother out

Are you serious? Yes we should help people, but not when others take advantage of people's kindness. Helping out and giving a can of gas is nice, but when people are tricking others into giving gas and doing this often, thats being selfish and greedy

Hate to break it to the folks in Seattle who feel it is somehow charity to give handouts to "homeless", especially when the reality is they likely make more money than you every day and live in a nicer home despite their appearances.

Please, he's not stealing. He's not "scamming". He's simply asking, and the people who are giving him gas have every right to say "no". Don't believe everything you hear about how rich the homeless people are. Anyone can become rich in USA-Work HARD

If you don't want to give it, then say no. There was nothing in the article stating he was bullying the customers after they said no. What does it matter. Of course he had to get several cans, one wasn't enough. Is it illegal to be poor now?

people like this make me sick.... kindness or not these people are reasons why I dont give money to people on the streets. Sure some maybe legit but as this points out...seriously get a job and work like the rest of us...SLACKERS!

wow, there are a lot of suckers in here I put the label same as stuff at the zoo dont feed the bears it has nothing to do with being greedy it is common sense i lost my job and found work fast no excuse for being on the streets other than lazziness!!

Why make it illegal to ask another for help. There is no excuse for laziness, but what does that have to do with needing help. As long as they are respectful. It should be up to me to say yes or no. No one forces me to do anything I didn't want to do

Unbelievable. How sad that people are taking advantage of others kindness in this manner. They should be ashamed of themsleves.
