Kitten cruelty

These cats are sitting in a truck outside of my brother's work site. They have been in there for many months (including through the heat wave that the Seattle area felt the last few weeks). My brother has called the humane society and the police department every single day. Apparently the gentleman who owns the truck lost his house and doesn't have any place to take the cats. he doesn't want to bring them to a shelter becuase he doesn't want them to get uthenized.
My brother doesn't even like cats but he cannot bare to see them suffer each day in this truck. The police department captain is pissed at my brother for taking up their time with this issue.
John doesn't want to upset the owner but why should those cats suffer in the back of that truck because the owner is not letting them have a chance at life. Oh, too top it off they have been having babies and apparently the owner is able to find homes for the kittens but not these poor cats.
My brother is a dog guy and to see him this upset about the cats means that he really thinks that they are being mistreated.

Please assist if you can. Maybe the pressure of the news media will help these cats get the care that they need and a place out of the back of that nasty truck.

Maybe you should suggest to this guy that he look into "foster" care for his cats or maybe you could help him find some. There are people who will look after cats temporarily. It sounds like he is down on his luck and doesn't have a lot of options.

Why don't you try calling Pasado Safe Haven in Sedro Wooley and see if they can refer the owner to someone closer. I'm betting that they know how to get in touch with someone who could help.

I agree with this poster. The picture says it all How these can't were not removed from the cramped truck is beyond me. Taking them to a shelter will NOT get them euthenized. This is a fallacy that too many people believe. Please help these cats.

I thought that animals had rights. This is animal abuse and something needs to be done about this situation. If these were children someone would step in and help. Please help these innocent animals and help give them a chance at a real life.

The cats would have better chances if they were able to get out of the truck. If Pasado's was going to help they would have already. What's the address of this store?

Pasado's is a great resource. Also try Homeward Pet Adoption Center, a no-kill, non-profit in Woodinville. 425-488-4444. They have a great fostering program and kitten adoptions.

Any cat healthy enough to have kittens is hardly in need of a neighborhood busybody interfering in the matters of others. It's probably well, fed like most cats I see, on all what's left of local small bird population anyway.

While I understand the police department's problems----lack of time, no money for new recruits (the SPD has 1 officer per 500 people as compared to other cities with approximately 1 per 250), however the suffering of these cats is inexcusable.

As long as the kitties are being fed, leave the owner alone. They are animal and it looks like they are in open air and not in the cab of the truck. I really dislike when people have to stick their nose into other peoples business

Michael- You can't be serious. They are locked in a truck. Where do you suppose they use the bathroom? This is no different than locking a cat in a filthy cat box full of food. But, at least they're eating, right?

You people are claiming that its abuse but think about this, if you have ever moved or gone on vacation and put your dog or cat in a pet carrier while you drive all day would be guilty of abuse also. So b4 you judge the owner take a look at yourself.

LJ- So you think that the cats are let out daily for food and water? I didn't read that anywhere- but I may have missed something. Eitherway, normal (ok, average)people dont keep animal locked up for this amount of time no matter what they are doing

Where does it say they were never fed or let out? The person claiming "animal cruelty" has no idea at all how much care the owner gives the cats. So many assumptions and conclusions without all the facts. So easy for the mob mentality to take over.

The owner of the cats may really care for them but it is still animal cruelty. If they cared for them enough they would find someone that would take care of them temporarily until they had a place other than the back of there truck to keep them.
