Olympic Art Festival in Quilcene Aug. 30

Story behind The Olympic Art Festival: My husband and Charlie and I moved to Quilcene 3 years ago. We purchased the old Sears building in Quilcene and thought we were going to just live in the adjoining apartment and store our belongings until we finished building our home.

We do custom gates, railings, home décor, etc (Brown Custom Iron) and decided to have a store front. Our artists friends wanted to be apart of the gallery so we asked them what percentage they paid to go to shows thus setting our low percentage . We now have 50 Northwest nature and wildlife fine art artists in the gallery Our goal is to support the local artists and provide fine art at reasonable prices.

The first Christmas season we had two or three artists at a time come each Saturday. When I emailed them and asked when they would like to return 10 asked to come May 26, thus starting The Olympic Art Festival. Seeing the artists demonstrate their art and being entertained by Multi-Octave Diva, Shirley Smith-Moore.

The Olympic Art Gallery has three festivals a year: Memorial Day Saturday and Sunday, Saturday of Labor Day weekend, and the Saturday closest to December 15th. Our next festival is August 30th, 2008. Artists come and bring additional artwork, most demonstrate their art , and all enjoy the entertainment.

The Olympic Art Gallery is located at the corner of 40 Washington Street/Hwy 101 in Quilcene, WA.
