Handicapped Riders rock their world !

Tiny tot special needs riders do it all

Hello Eric, I hate sports as a rule, but I always mark your "Little Heros" segment because it is always awesome and uplifting. So now I have one for you and your viewers that your gonna love ! I am lead Instructor for Native Horsemanship Riding Center, Located in Sequim, WA.We are a nonprofit horseback riding facility that caters to, special needs ,handicapped youth, youth at risk, and also able bodied kids who just want to ride. Here is our coolness-our insurance take the riders from age 3 on up ! And Eric, you should see these tiny tots ride ! Feet don't work? NO PROBLEM ! Just get on your horse ! A little spastic? A few minutes walking in the saddle seems to really help. Been in 8 foster homes in two years and carry an anger jetpack? Easily tossed away on horseback! Having trouble in school and detention and fighting seem the order of the day? Once on your pony you can calm down and feel like you are worth something. We have nonwinner competitions and lots of fun ! All safety gear is used , there is a volunteer or parent w/ every child and I even created special tiny tot safety saddles for more securely w/o being tied in. ( I was recently offered 300$ for one but I need it !) All gear is cleaned between users and can be checked out free during the lesson. We even have 5 acres of trails in the woods so these little riders can experience the trail ride ! Just seeing these small kids ride and overcome their troubles is a tearjerker and a gigglefest ! (Part of the cuteness of it is we train smaller ponies for many of our riders and that sets up a real unique visual) I strongly suggest you do a story on these incredible kids, they can surely inspire others ! Visit our website at nhrc.weebly.com Thanks,Yvette TwoRabbits Ludwar,Pres. and Lead Instructor, NHRC (360) 582-0907

I took my 2 grandaughters to ride at Yvette's stables when they were 6 years old. She taught them to be gentle with horses. You don't need to kick them to make them go! What a wonderful time they had then and are still continuing with lessons now.

hey mom, you're doin' great. ive been working with you for how many years now? the program has skyrocketed from then, and people are beginning to see just how important these horses are to you and to the children who come back every year and ride.

Horses are nature's cure for so many conditions! My day is automatically better after I've spent time with my two; I believe horses can smooth out those troubled teenage years. Best of luck to you!!!!!

What a awesome program, wish I lived closer. Riding horses just takes away everything else that's on your mind or whatever. Congratulations on a job well done, you people are great.
