While we are anxious for a little snow, we forget how much it impacts our lives when it finally happens. Just one street here in our neighborhood (12th Ave So.)can keep everyone home, or walking to hitch rides up at the top of the hill.
The dog loves it, however, many are late for work, scrambling out on the roads only to find that it is too slippery to get anyplace at all.
This morning, my partner walked up the hill to Hwy 99 in order to catch a ride with work buddies. His work buddies were all piled in one car, all 4 studded tires, and all scrambling to work today. Now, once there, they will have to make the trip home in the dark with all the others who are having a difficult time on the road as well and another snow day is sure to follow. At least they are each among friends they enjoy, as they are still not at work yet...
It has been over an hour and I-5 is crazy they tell me. I personally think all of them should have slept in, stayed home til the roads cleared, and had a cup of hot chocolate with whip or a latte and listened to a few tunes.
Here I am, warm and cozy at home, and not out there fighting the traffic, snow, ice and all the frustration that is going to build as the snow continues to fall on the city of Seattle. May all of you be safe and remember, it is so temporary that we have snow, get out and taste a little snowflake or two, and remember to slow down and be nice to the guy slipping around in circles before you, maybe this is his first snow ever!?
Have a happy holiday!
