Chris Brawn clears the 4 foot snow drifts to allow local Sultan residents to get out.

Sultan Digs Out from December Snow Blast

The snow and wind storm of December 20-21, 2008 won't soon be forgotton by many Sultan residents as the area was slammed by near hurricane force winds overnight. Many people awoke Sunday morning to find their driveways, yards, and streets inundated by snow drifts as high as five feet in many places.

Local landscape business owner, Chris Brawn (Michele's Landscape) used his own front loader to come to the rescue of the Skywall Drive neighborhood and to help free Mike Esteron's car that became stuck in a drift.

Esteron's woes didn't end with a stuck car, on his walk back to his house his keys somehow fell out along the way and disappeared into the blowing snow. Other neighbors, Dominic and Lynn Zimmerman also helped Esteron get his car dug out.

The house of Jim and Wendy Stiles (see photo) received several four foot snow drifts totally blocking their access to the street.

Winds in the area have died down some but continue to blow with strong gusts up to 40-50 miles per hour as new snow also continues to fall.
