I ended up having to walk to work yesterday, 3 1/2 miles, because I couldn't rely on the buses. I live in Bellevue on the boarder of Kirkland and I work on a boat which was going to be leaving from Kirkland. On the way I took pictures of some of the amazing sights I saw. I haven't seen weather like this since I lived in Chicago! The original snow fall had melted just a little bit when the weather had warmed up for a day and then with the second wave of snow it froze over and turned into ice and was then coated with a layer of snow over it. Then sometime Saturday night, for the third wave, we got a lot of sleet, which left another layer of ice. This then turned to snow again. This left, from bottom to top, a layer of ice, layer of snow, layer of ice, layer of snow. As I walked the snow not only crunched, but it cracked in sheets like ice. I could pick up a chunk of snow and see that it really was like a sandwich of snow with ice in the middle. It was absolutely amazing.
