Kim & Christina riding their Christmas Snow Horse

The Christmas Snow Horse

18 year old Christina Walters has been building snow horses since she was 9 years old. Her first creation was about the size of a miniature horse, but she was so small that she could ride it! Over the years she continued to build snow ponies with each one growing just a little bit bigger. And then this year when it started snowing in Chimacum, WA and didn't show signs of slowing down . . . Christina decided to build her biggest snow horse ever - a life size horse! Over the course of several days Christina spent countless hours out in the cold carefully building and sculpting her equine masterpiece. She enlisted the help of her sister, Kim, and together they packed on handful after handful of snow to create first, four legs, then a body, then a neck and head, and finally a tail. The horse required hauling hundreds of pounds of snow to the location, and when Kim began to tire from the task, their dad, Reed, volunteered to help as well! Finally, as darkness fell on Christmas Eve, Kim hauled her final buckets of snow while Christina carefully finished carving in nostrils and ears. There was magic in the air as the snow horse came to life! The two girls longed to ride the majestic creature, but there was no time as the Christmas Eve Service would soon be starting! They would have to wait until Christmas morning. Christina awoke early the next day, but alas! The temperature had drastically warmed up and the snow horse was suffering! She quickly gathered more snow and with careful hands she patched and doctored the wounds that the weather had inflicted on her beloved creature. With Christina's loving hands, the horse came back to life, and both Christina and Kim were able to climb aboard for a special Christmas ride that will be forever remembered.
