I was at Carkeek park on Wednesday 3-12-09 and saw this dark streak in the blue sky

These dark streaks are caused by jet contrails casting shadows through atmospheric haze. You can't really see them unless you're positioned to view them from just the right angle, so they are a fairly uncommon sight.
