Spanaway/Graham fire 3/14

Raining Fire

I'm sound asleep when I hear BOOM BOOM BOOM. My first thought "it's like 6 am, what idiot is out there doing fireworks". Then came the police sirens, "uh oh, could be a gunman." I'd better check. Then fire engines and yelling. I'm still kind of groggy with a brief thought of "omg, we're under attack". I go to the back window and people are running down the street, I go out to my deck and see the flames. The sky was raining fire and ash over my house, I'm freaked out, it's half dark still. I rush inside and scramble to find my jacket, my purse and my dog's leash in case we have to flee. All the time thinking, "why oh why haven't I got renter's insurance on this house yet?" I felt sorry for my neighbors, to imagine everything they must be going through and for all the things they have lost. I felt bad about taking photos of such a sad event. It really hits home when it's in your own backyard.
