The Seattle Pokémon Video Game Regional Championship took place at the Seattle Center Fisher Pavilion on Saturday, May 9th. It was the first tournament of the Pokémon Video Game that leads up to the World Championship in San Diego, CA on August 14th. There are a total of 6 Regional Championships, with winners advancing to the National Championship in St. Louis before making it to the World’s. The World Championship will have players from Japan, France, the UK, Germany, and of course, the U.S.
The Seattle Tournament was a great start to the competitive season. A friendly staff, fronted by energetic emcee, had the event running smoothly and kept the crowds entertained. Several Pokémon were there to greet fans and pose for pictures. The battles started at 10:30 am, with the Senior Division going first. Then the Juniors battled it out. At the end, 4 contenders in each division battled to the top and will be advancing onto the Nationals in St. Louis, MO on June 27th.
