A.J. is first in line to start the battles.

A.J. Roberts Makes it to the Semi-Finals

A.J. Roberts of Edmonds, WA competed in the Seattle Pokémon Video Game Regional Championship on Saturday, May 9th. It was his first tournament of such and he had lofty goals, to do his best and to not be defeated by anyone 10 years his junior.

In the first round, A.J. takes out Dustin, the only other married man in the tournament. Though Dustin is defeated, he had great sportsmanship and continued to watch A.J.’s progress throughout the rest of the matches on the big screens.

In the second round, A.J. has a difficult battle against Rob. Rob, an overly-talkative fellow, drove 14 hours from Salt Lake City, UT, to be at the Championship. With some good ole dumb luck, A.J. emerged victorious, advancing onto the semi-finals, the second contender to do so.

In the third round, the semi-finals, A.J. fights hard, but his opponent’s Trick Room turns the tide against A.J. David, A.J.’s final opponent, would later go on and place in the final 4, advancing onto the National Championship.

Though A.J. did not make it to the finals, he is happy with his progress. Plus, he’s married and doesn’t need to be wasting his time playing with video games.
