It has been almost one year ago that my sons story was posted on the komo news sight, a tragedy that took his 16yr old life July 16,2008.I just wanted to thank komo news again for all the help that they have given us and posting our story.Through this year my sons memory lives on in helping people find their spirituality and his friends to understand that life is short and to live it right. He would of been 18yr this aug 5 and its the most hardest year of my families life. Not only did we lose Matthew but my daughters first child born nov 5, 2008 has a heart defect mind you that we found out a couple of weeks after matt passed, she is 7 months old and has had over 7 open heart surgeries. We thank God for her survival and just want everyone to know that God is real and even though my precious son is gone he brought us our granddaughter. We have had one hard year with lots of set backs financially and mentally, but we have survived even through all this. For all the people that left kind remarks the first time our story was told Thank you and i would ask july 16,2009 this year if you have kids thank God they are still here and tell them you love them cause on that day i will be missing mine..

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Matthew. I know full well how it feels to looses a child. My son was 16 as well . It has been 8 years. Prayer and memories along with family . You will be strong. Your granddaaughter is fine she is fine.

Jesus people. Learn to speak proper English before posting on places like this. Ebonics isn't a "proper language".!!!!

I don't know your family, but saw your sons' memorial page on myspace, which made me research his story. My prayers go out to your family and I know no words can ever heal your hearts, but would like you to know that even people you've never met care

The rude comments left are disheartening. It's sad to think that there are such hateful people within our communites. I myself self have been to many funerals due to street violence. Our children are dying in these streets. I pray for a change!

I need more space to write. I know your sons' death was an accident, but I can't help to think about how many of our children our dying from guns. I don't want you to think I was labeling him. It just hits home with me. I'm really sorry for your loss
