continued... teacher's are not given a chance to look at contracts until the end of the summer so they don't have a lot of time to vote on the contract, bargain and anything else that needs to be done. They are doing it for the students.

All of you people complaining about the strike should walk a mile in a teacher's shoes, then make a decision. You haven't the slightest idea of what teacher's do for your children. And for those of you who don't know, teacher's contracts are not give

Class size is a relatively small issue when looked at across KSD. The needs of a few teachers is dictating breaking the law, thousands are affected.... Selfish!

They now break the law. So the teachers who teach our children give our children the impression that breaking the law is ok-Just remember those kids will soon be leading our country. Now we just pick and choose the laws we want to obey??=Chaos..

Unless your a teacher, etc working in the District; you really don't know what it is like; walk in their shoes for a week; work the extra hours, it more heart then money the teachers make! It every person Freedom to make a stand in what is needed!

Kent teachers make half? Come on. They work 183 days a year, get at least 3 personal days and 10 sick days, all paid. Then they say they're underpaid when they work 70% as many hours as most folks. More money does not a better teacher make.

cont.... look up to the teachers and have them tell us to obey the law. They are just being hypocritical telling us not to do something and they are doing the total opposite. They ARE doing this strike for them not us students

well, all I have to say is the teachers are selfish and I am not on their side. I believe they are doing this for themselves not the students like they say they are. They are suppose to be an example for us, but how can we be the kids to look up to

That was a meager turnout compared to the parent support rallies I've been to! Almost looked staged. The District is responsible for this strike and our kids not being in school.Teachers have tried to negotiate for over 6 months.

Public employees cannot strike. None of your police, firefighters, city, state or county employees can strike. Sometimes they work without a contract. I am glad my chidlren don't attend school in Kent. What kind of messages are they sending?

The have the right to fight for what they deserve, people need to fight with the teachers not against! Why don't those parents want better class enviroments (smaller classes) for their kids?

The teachers were given no choice but to disobey the law. The same thing happened in Marysville, but the school district actually didn't file for them to go back for 11 days, they actually listened for a few days.Kent teachers were given 1 whole day

I hope that these parents understand that the issues we are out fighting for are going to benefit their children, give their children more time with their children, and meanwhile we are not being paid for our efforts. You will get your 180 days!

"hammer out the rest of the details while they are working" one woman says. When do they can do that??. Think about it. Our teachers make less than 90% of all WA teachers. KSD admin salaries are #1in. This is the right thing to do!!!!!

Good for them! I agree that proper education guidelines should be fought for but why does it have to happen when our children need to be learning. Breaking the law and aguing during the year insted of summer is wrong!
