Boeing is taking serious measures to protect itself against possible flood damage in Kent and Renton. The Army Corps of Engineers has said there is a one in four chance that there could be flood-level release of water from Howard Hanson Dam this winter. Boeing isn’t taking any chances.
A contractor for Boeing is building massive 8-foot high green walls around two critical Boeing complexes. The walls are thousands of feet long and fill with sand. The complex in Kent holds several projects of national security defense programs and the critical data center.
This is possibly the most expensive flood preparations by a private company in the Green River Valley, however Boeing has not released how much the project will cost. The walls should be completed by the end of the month.
