Former 300 pounder to celebrate Thomas Jefferson High Schools Biggest Looser

High School Challenge to get healthy

Jael, a teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School and has gathered 23 employees to participate in their own Biggest Looser. I am so emotionally moved by this group of teachers and employees that I want to tell people that this works. They have had a great time working hard loosing weight and being incredible role models for each other and the students of the high school.

Challenging others at a place you work is a great motivator to be accountable and supporting each other while trying to reach a fitness goal. Sharing recipes, cardio and workout routines and just the agony of the diet and workout makes it do-able. They will be celebrating their weight loss Tuesday December 15th at 2:30 at the High School. They have lost a several hundred pounds as group.

I think that this time of year people struggle with their eating, weight, self esteem, and personal appearance. As we head into the holiday times with lots of high calorie foods as well as the colder weather, we all seem to hide our bodies in bulky clothing. The weather gets dark and cold and we do not get outside to play or exercise as much. Many of us eat for comfort and find being inside a lot just increases our habits and catalysts us into putting on the pounds.

I am really passionate about people sharing their struggles with weight. We are so emotionally tied to our appearance and often, others judge by what we look like before we even speak. I want to help as many people as I can by sharing my own story, motivating and inspiring others to be physically, emotionally and mentally strong which makes for better, healthier and more productive life. I am a former 300 pound woman who, for the last 3 years has lost close to 200 pounds with diet and exercise. I have been asked to help inspire and motivate this group as well as celebrate their achievements with my story and an appearance as the 2010 Mrs. Washington for US Beauties Pageants. I am trying to put together some goodie bags with local merchants and healthy gifts and some t-shirts for workouts to present at the gathering.
