On January 18, 2007, Stuart Smith, a long-time foster parent of Foster Care Resources-Secret Harbor, was diagnosed with a severe malignant brain tumor. The necessary steps were taken; however, he continues to rely on intensive chemotherapy. His family currently includes his loving wife, Amy, and their two teenage boys whom they have attained Guardianship of. At the time of the diagnosis, there were two other small boys living in the home, however, had to be removed due to the crisis. The family is currently experiencing extreme hardship, physically, emotionally, and financially. To show our support, we are hosting a benefit to carry them through this time.
"Sip for the Smiths" will be located at Camano Commons, 848 N. Sunrise Blvd., Camano Island, WA 98282 on June 28th, 2007 from 6:00-9:00 PM! Enjoy live music, wine, coffee and hors d'ouevres! Minimum $20 Donation.
I am specifically requesting your support as the Smiths are members of your community. You may already be a friend, family member, or even a social worker who has worked with them....but even if you have never met them, know that this is your opportunity to make a difference in the lives a wonderful family.
We could use your help in providing community awareness, such as; discussing with your co-workers, friends and family, or passing out flyers!
Thank you so much for your consideration to this matter. If you require further information, please don't hesitate to contact Foster Care Resources, 360-755-5700. Once again, we appreciate any help you can provide!
If you are unable to attend, you can provide a donation at any Washington Mutual location towards the Stuart D. Smith Benevolent Fund. Credit card donations can be made via Foster Care Resources.
