Local Talent Make USA National Teams

It was just announced yesterday, July 13th, that Andrea Sooter, University of Washington senior rower, and resident of Bellevue, Washington, was named to the USA National 23 and under National Rowing Team. She will row for the US Team in the Women’s Eight person boat July 26-29 in Strathclyde, Scotland. The USA Women are the defending World Champions, having won last year in Belgium. Andrea is the daughter of Stephen Sooter of Newcastle, Washington, and Robin Sooter-Nance of Bellevue. Andrea’s father was the 1974 NCAA Div. II national champion in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Jesse Johnson, a member of the University of Washington’s Men’s Team and a resident of Mercer Island will row in the Men’s eight at the same event.
