Walking along the Snohomish River in Lowell on Easter Sunday, we encountered this struggle between frog and snake.

Yes Kate, you are correct. The frog inflated its body in hopes of being too big, however, in my experience, snakes are stubborn with potential meals and most likely would eventually win this battle, unless another predator made a meal of the two.

I didn't stay to see who won :( It took about 5 mins for the snake to get the frog turned from sideways to head on - after that, it seemed like the snake had won. I'm not sure, but it also looks like the frog might be swelling up as a defense mechani
